Red foxes are the most common species of fox and inhabit most parts of the world, including North America and Eurasia. They are generally a rusty red color and have black paws and ear tips.

Habitat & Food
Although red foxes are generally more commonly found in forests and prairies, they do go further north into tundras and icy areas. They are carnivorous and known to eat rabbits, mice, insects, birds and several other small animals, depending on what is accessible to them.
In Culture
Foxes are often portrayed as sly, stealthy and cunning, and are almost given a trickster role (like the raven). Intelligence is also a common trait given to fox characters. Some examples of red foxes (or foxlike creatures) in the media are Todd from The Fox and the Hound, Robin Hood from Disney's Robin Hood, Vulpix from Pokémon and "Tails" Miles Prower, who appears most often in Sonic the Hedgehog games.
